Public health and environmental groups join effort to request full court rehearing for Cross State Air Pollution Rule
A coalition of public health and environmental groups has formally asked the full U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit for a rehearing on the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) petitioned the court for an en banc rehearing this morning. Five groups – American Lung Association, Clean Air Council, Environmental Defense Fund, Natural Resources Defense Council, and Sierra Club – just filed a petition with the court as intervenors in the case in support of EPA.
The petition states:
“The Public Health Intervenors respectfully seek rehearing … The implications of the panel’s ruling for clean air are serious … The Rule will save tens of thousands of lives per year, avoid hundreds of thousands of serious illnesses, and improve air quality for 240 million Americans.”
You can read the full petition here.
